In 1967 when I was 16, my family and I observed what could only be described as a large pulsing orange globe in the sky just south of our family farm which was in rual Northwest Arkansas north of Ft. Smith.
It was a warm summer evening and we had been sitting outside with some of my father's family who were visiting. At about 10:30 they were getting ready to go home so I decided to go inside lay down and listen to the radio. In my very strong 16 year old opinion the only station to listen to at that time was KFSA, (AM of course). It played the top 40 and I fell asleep many nights listen to the beats of that era.
When I went to my room rather than hearing music I heard the DJ and the newsman screaming loudly into their microphones "Here they come again". Intrigued, rather than drifting off to sleep like I had planned, I sat straight up in bed and listened. My bedroom window faced south towards Ft. Smith so I moved a chair to the window and was looking to see if I could spot anything. As I listened to the "radio guys" describe cigar shaped objects, ball shaped objects and boomerang objects flying over their heads, I was very disappointed that I could see nothing of the objects as all of the action was about 10 miles to the south.
Having said their goodbyes to our company my parents and younger sister came into my room and in my mother’s words said, "What on earth are you listening to". I tried to explain what was happening but having no words to describe what was going on I replied, "Just listen". As they listened for a few minutes they both shrugged their shoulders probably thinking it was some kind of radio hoax.
They beagn to leave the room when the voices of the two guys on the radio took on an even more excited tone. Almost yelling into the microphone one of them exclaimed, "My god look at the size of that one headed north", "It is the biggest one we have seen all evening". Hoping against all hope that it would come far enough north for me to see, I put the radio in my bedroom window grabbed my parents and practically drug them outside. We stood just outside my bedroom so that we could listening to the radio and watch the southern sky.
I was about to give up hope and I know my parents were getting restless wanting to go back inside when in the southern horizon the large orange sphere that the radio guys had been describing as the largest object of the evening appeared on the horizon. We stood in awe as the sphere silently fly to about a 60-degree angle in the south. For the next 5 or so minutes we stood watching this object stop and appear to hover in place. The orange almost bronze light appeared to pulse in a clockwise motion. We were transfixed. How long we actually stood their I don’t know. Then the object began to fly back to the south and disappeared behind the hill in the horizon. The guys on the radio were now settling down as they began to describe that all of the objects were now flying towards the large orange sphere and were leaving the area. Soon there was nothing left in the sky.
I have no way to judge the size of the object as I don’t know how far it was from our house other than a large television transmission tower that had recently been erected 4 miles south of our house and rose up about 1500 feet in the air. You could just see the top of the tower from our position and this object was clearly larger that that tower.
The next day there was talk of several "Military Types" that showed up and were asking question. There was a very bad picture printed in the Ft. Smith newspaper as well and soon either by design or loss of interest talk of the incident died down.
What happened that summer night in Arkansas, I have no idea. To my knowledge we had no time loss or any of the other phenomenon associated with UFO sightings reported today. We did not see any "grays", reptilian people, or Nordic types nor were any physical pieces of evidence of any type left behind. I can only report what my family and I saw, what was being reported on the radio that night and the newspaper the next day. What I am left with are questions and the enigma of the countless confusing pieces of information and misinformation.
My hope with this website is to establish resources for answer or answers behind the mystery. Please join me in my search for the truth. Your comments are always welcome as well as your thoughts and personal experiences. I look forward to exploring with you.
